Mayor of Newtownabbey

I offer sincere greetings to all our residents of Newtownabbey and wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

During my time as Mayor I have been amazed at how many volunteers there are among us. I have been deeply touched and indeed heartened by the way so many have come together to help each other. I thank every one of you who give of your time and energy to make life better for others.

Christmas is a time when most of us are with family and friends, but let us remember those who are ill or bereaved, those who are miles from home and those who are in difficulty, particularly in these tough economic times. Maybe, in the true spirit of Christmas, we could all do just one thing to help bring a little happiness into their lives.

Some of you may know that in my year as Mayor I am supporting 3 charities, The NI Childrens Hospice, Gis a Hug Foundation and Medecins Sans Frontieres. I would like to invite you to take part in the Mayor’s Charity Santa Stroll on Friday 9th December at 12:30 from beside the Mossley railway halt – it should only take about 45 minutes and covers 3km. All monies raised will go to these charities.

I hope you all have a Christmas that is happy, safe, warm and comfortable and that the weather will be kind to us.

Alderman W.J. Webb JP,
Mayor of Newtownabbey
