Energy Saving Tips
Energy Savings Tips:
- Turning your thermostat down by 1°C can cut your heating bills by 10%.
- Take appliances of standby – they continue to use 5% of energy while left on standby.
- Kettles – Only boil as much water as you need (ensuring that the element in an electric kettle is covered).
- Close curtains and tuck behind radiators to keep the heat in.
- Use 30°C instead of 40°C temperature programmes when washing clothes.
- If buying new appliances, look for the energy saving logo. The higher the rating, the more you save.
- Energy saving light bulbs use 20% less energy than standard bulbs and may last up to 12 times longer.
- Switch off lights when you are not using them.
- If you are not filling up your washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher, use the half load or economy programme.
