graphic of poisons

In accordance with the Poisons (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 and the Poisons Regulations (NI) 1983, the sale of certain poisons known as Part II Poisons is restricted to a person running a retail pharmacy business or to a person who is registered by the local council.

What do I have to do to meet requirements?

An individual from the business must register with the council and must nominate a responsible deputy.

Is there a fee?

Yes, there is fee of £5:00 for new registrations and an annual fee thereafter of £3:00 for renewal.

Once I've registered, is that all I have to do?

No. This is simply a means of informing the council where you are. Once you’ve registered, your premises will be inspected by an Officer from the Environmental Health Department to ensure correct storage and procedures are being followed.
