About The Programme
The Play Fair Sport programme recognised that sport has an important contribution to make in the lives of individuals and supported five very different projects to use the powerful potential of sport as a mechanism to explore the themes of racism and sectarianism in ways that are engaging and fun.
Each of the five projects has approached their work differently but with one common denominator – young people. The five projects supported have included challenging discussions within clubs, cross sport engagement, sport used as a mechanism to explore racial diversity and to challenge racism and sport as a vehicle to explore community relations. Whether they have been attending residentials or getting involved in activities or events each and every one of the 300 or so young people involved in the programme showed a serious commitment to thinking about issues of racism and sectarianism.
